On May 23, 2002, Shawn Green set a major-league record by accumulating 19 total bases for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Milwaukee Brewers, hitting four home runs, a single, and a double. Green's four home runs tied a major league record.

As of the end of the 2012 season, sixteen players have hit four home runs in a major-league game. The first four of these - Bobby Lowe, Ed Delahanty, Lou Gehrig, and Chuck Klein ended their careers before Player won-lost records are calculated. The 12 players who have hit 4 home runs in a game since 1948 are shown in the next table, ranked by career pWins over replacement level (pWORL).
