This is Mike Cameron's first year appearing on a Hall-of-Fame ballot.

Mike Cameron was a brilliant defensive centerfielder. He only won three Gold Gloves in his career, which is probably fewer than he deserved. In his book Wizardry: Baseball's All-Time Greatest Fielders Revealed, Michael Humphreys rates Cameron as the 8th-best defensive centerfielder of all time.

Player won-lost records agree with the general view that Cameron was an excellent fielder, although perhaps not quite as good as Humphreys rates him.

The next table shows the top 25 players in net fielding wins (wins minus losses) in center field across all seasons for which I have calculated Player won-lost records (since 1921).
