This is Andruw Jones's fourth year on the Hall-of-Fame ballot. I have written articles about the Hall-of-Fame candidates every year in which Andruw Jones has been on the BBWAA ballot. Here is what I wrote about him last year.

Vote Prediction
After holding fairly steady - and fairly low - in his first two years on the ballot, Jones's vote percentage surged from 7.5% in 2019 (up from 7.3% in 2018) to 19.4% last year. A starting point of 7.3% would seem to suggest that Jones is unlikely to be elected to the Hall of Fame (by the BBWAA). On the other hand, a gain of 12% in one year is a very encouraging sign. If Jones can get four more 12% increases, that would push him over the 75% threshold and counting this year, Jones has seven more years on the ballot to get those four 12% boosts. So, maybe?

I think this ballot should be extremely favorable for players to gain votes. So I could certainly see another 12% boost this year. In fact, that'll be my prediction for Jones: 31.4% this year.

Player Won-Lost Records and Andruw Jones
I have a lot of trouble knowing quite what to make of Andruw Jones's Hall-of-Fame case. On the one hand, the positives are fairly straightforward: if he wasn't the greatest defensive center fielder in major-league history, he's at least in the conversation and offensively, he was good enough that he hit 434 home runs. But his last elite season was his age-29 season.

Jones's Hall-of-Fame case strikes me as somewhat unique. Perhaps counter-intuitively, I find it helpful to compare "unique" players to other players to help get a better sense of their value. So, I'm going to compare Andruw Jones to a Hall-of-Fame center fielder. Not a slam-dunk Hall-of-Famer but a guy who checks some of the same boxes as Jones: good fielder (8 Gold Gloves), 400+ home runs (409 to be exact), not a lot of additional offensive value (career on-base percentage of .323; Jones's career on-base percentage was .337 - neither of those are bad, mind you; they just don't scream "Hall-of-Famer"). Here, then, is a comparison of Andruw Jones and Andre Dawson.
