This is Bobby Abreu's second year on the Hall-of-Fame ballot. Here is what I wrote about him last year.

Vote Prediction
Bobby Abreu received 22 votes in last year's Hall-of-Fame election, good for 5.5%, just over the 5% threshold needed for him to return this year. With the election last year of Derek Jeter and Larry Walker, most returning voters should have at least two newly-empty ballot slots with no first-year candidates who are obvious choices to take one or both of these.

Because of this, I would expect most returning candidates to see their vote totals increase this year. It is fairly common for candidates to increase their vote totals significantly in their first few years on the ballot. Taken together, I would expect a fairly significant increase in Abreu's vote total. That said, 5.5% is a very low starting point. I will predict that Abreu's vote total doubles - to 11.0%.

Player Won-Lost Records and Bobby Abreu
Bobby Abreu bounced around a bit toward the end of his career. But the bulk of his career - and especially, the bulk of his Hall-of-Fame case - came as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, for whom Abreu played 8+ seasons, earning both of his All-Star selections, his Gold Glove, his Silver Slugger, and five of his seven seasons receiving MVP votes.

The next table shows the top 10 players in Philadelphia Phillies history (since 1916), ranked by pWins over replacement level (pWORL).

Abreu is in pretty good company in the above table.
