Vote Prediction
It is an honor for J.J. Putz simply to appear on a Hall-of-Fame ballot.

Player Won-Lost Records and J.J. Putz
J.J. Putz was a pretty good relief pitcher for about nine years with a few excellent seasons mixed in. One thing that you may not know about J.J. Putz is that he had a fielding percentage of 1.000 in 10 of his 12 seasons, committing only two errors in this career (one each in 2006 and 2008). Granted, relief pitchers don't generally have a lot of fielding opportunities, but when they came, Putz was very good at handling them.

Putz tends not to show up in my fielding leader tables as I typically measure them simply because he has too few fielding decisions. But ranking pitchers by fielding win percentage (i.e., fielding eWins divided by fielding (eWins plus eLosses)), Putz looks pretty good.
