This is Paul Konerko's first year on the Hall-of-Fame ballot.

Vote Prediction
Meaning no disrespect, Paul Konerko is not a Hall-of-Famer and I think that virtually everybody understands that Paul Konerko is not a Hall-of-Famer. That said, Paul Konerko was extremely beloved on the South Side of Chicago and Chicago sportswriters have a tendency to be extremely provincial and like to support "their own". For example, Harold Baines received 29 votes his first time on the ballot and got enough votes to hang around for five BBWAA ballots. More recently, Kerry Wood got two votes two years ago.

I would guess that Konerko's vote total will end up closer to Wood's than Baines's. But I could see him maybe getting as many as a dozen votes, which would be 2 - 3 percent given the size of the current electorate. That's probably a bit high, but I'll predict Konerko gets 1.5% of the vote.

Player Won-Lost Records and Paul Konerko
As I said, Paul Konerko was (and is) beloved on the South Side of Chicago. And while he's not really a Hall-of-Famer, the love is justified. Konerko was the White Sox team captain for eight seasons and he was the best hitter on the 2005 Chicago White Sox, who won the first World Series in Chicago in 88 years. Not only was Konerko the best hitter on the 2005 White Sox during the regular season, he was the best player in the 2005 postseason as measured by Player won-lost records.

The next table, then, shows the top 10 players in pWins for the Chicago White Sox for whom I have calculated Player won-lost records (i.e., since 1916). The numbers here include both regular-season and postseason games.
