This is Torii Hunter's first year on the Hall-of-Fame ballot.

Vote Prediction
Torii Hunter checks quite a few boxes as a Hall-of-Fame candidate: 5 All-Star teams, 9 Gold Gloves, over 2,400 hits, 350 home runs, almost 1,300 runs scored, almost 1,400 RBI. Hunter was quite good for quite a long time. I don't think most voters think he's quite a Hall-of-Famer, but it's a relatively weak ballot and a very weak freshman class as far as these things go (no disrespect to the 11 first-time players on the ballot), so I suspect that most voters who might be inclined to vote for Hunter would be able to find room for him on their ballot if they really wanted to.

So, how many votes do I think Hunter will get? I don't know. I'd be surprised if he got none or virtually none and I'd be surprised if he got particularly close to 10%, but that leaves a pretty wide range of results that wouldn't surprise me too much. Let's guess 6% and a return for a second ballot next year.

Player Won-Lost Records and Torii Hunter
Baseball Player won-lost records end up being on approximately the same scale as traditional pitcher wins. Hence, one can approximately judge pWins and eWins by the same traditional measures by which one might judge pitcher wins (if one still cares about pitcher wins): 20 pWins is a very good season total, 300 pWins is a very good career total. One thing that makes the comparison only "approximate" is that pWins aren't distributed evenly across positions. Shifting to comparisons to positional average (WOPA) or replacement level (WORL) mostly solve this problem, but, in terms of raw pWins (and eWins), outfielders tend to earn more pWins (and pLosses) than other positions, not because outfielders are better than other positions but because they accumulate somewhat more fielding wins (and fielding losses) than infielders.

So, I would not necessarily say that 300 career pWins is automatically good enough to warrant getting into the Hall of Fame. But 300 career pWins is nevertheless an impressive accomplishment. It is also an accomplishment which Torii Hunter achieved.

Here, then, are all of the players who have earned 300 career pWins since MLB integration.
