Hal Newhouser had an extraordinary 3-year peak from 1944 through 1946.

In 1944, Newhouser had a traditional won-lost record of 29-9 with a 2.22 ERA in 312.1 innings pitched. He led the American League in wins and strikeouts (187).

In 1945, Newhouser had a traditional record of 25-9 with a 1.81 ERA in 313.1 innings pitched. He led the American League in wins, ERA, games started (36), complete games (29), shutouts (8), innings, and strikeouts (212).

In 1946, Newhouser went 26-9 with a 1.94 ERA, leading the league in wins for the third straight season and in ERA for the second straight season. He added 29 complete games, 6 shutouts, and 275 strikeouts in 292.2 innings pitched.
